HP Latest To Settle In Data Encryption Patent Suit

Law360, New York (August 31, 2009, 12:51 PM ET) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. is the latest defendant to settle with PACid Group LLC in a lawsuit accusing several technology companies, including Dell Inc. and Toshiba Corp., of infringing patents related to data encryption.

PACid moved to dismiss HP in a motion filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alerting the judge that the parties had reached a settlement and would each bear their own costs and attorneys’ fees.
