Law360, New York (September 10, 2009, 4:20 PM ET) -- Sneaker maker New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc. has hit LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA with a trade dress suit, seeking to force Louis Vuitton to give the boot to a new design that is allegedly virtually identical to New Balance's 574 model.
Louis Vuitton's new Minstrel sneaker, introduced in August, infringes and dilutes the distinctive, famous trade dress of the 574 model, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts on Wednesday.
