Explosives Manufacturers Square Off In Patent Suit

Law360, New York (November 01, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- An Australian company has filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Texas accusing an Ohio-based company of infringing two patents related to the strategically timed detonation of explosives.

Plaintiff Orica Explosives Technology Pty. Ltd., which provides explosives and detonation systems to the mining, quarrying and construction industries, filed the lawsuit against Austin Powder Co. last week. Parent company Orica Limited's explosives business is its largest, but the company also sells chemicals and lawn and garden products.
