Takeda Sues Teva Over Sleeping Pill ANDA

Law360, New York (November 09, 2009, 2:11 PM ET) -- Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. has filed an infringement action to prevent Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. from marketing a generic version of Rozerem, a prescription sleeping medication.

The complaint, lodged Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleges Teva is seeking regulatory approval to manufacture and sell a treatment for insomnia that infringes Takeda’s patent rights.

Last month, the defendant notified Takeda that it had submitted an abbreviated new drug application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 8 mg ramelteon tablets,...
