Microsoft Sues TiVo Over Digital Recording Patents

Law360, New York (January 20, 2010, 5:05 PM ET) -- A patent battle between Microsoft Corp. and TiVo Inc. continued to heat up Wednesday, with the technology giant filing a lawsuit accusing TiVo of infringing two patents related to content display and delivery programs.

Microsoft filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, claiming TiVo's set-top box products, subscription services and software infringe two patents, U.S. Patent Numbers 6,008,803, titled “System for displaying programming information,” and 6,055,314, titled “System and method for secure purchase and delivery of video content programs.”...
