Law360, New York (July 09, 2010, 12:51 PM ET) -- A federal judge has given the heave-ho to SmartMetric Inc.’s patent infringement action against MasterCard Inc. and Visa Inc., but granted the plaintiff another chance to elaborate on accusations regarding the defendants’ contactless card systems.
Judge Jacqueline H. Nguyen of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Thursday tossed SmartCard’s suit alleging MasterCard and Visa incorporate its patented smartcard technology, noting that much more detail is needed to make the claims viable.
