Sears, Wal-Mart, Others Sued Over Lighting Patent

Law360, New York (November 16, 2010, 2:08 PM ET) -- A patent holder has accused major retailers, including Sears Holdings Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and manufacturers of energy-efficient lightbulbs of infringing a patent that covers a light-emitting diode bulb that can fit into a traditional lamp socket.

Effectively Illuminated Pathways LLC filed a complaint Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas to enforce U.S. Patent Number 6,580,228.

Along with Sears and Wal-Mart, the complaint names fellow retailers Amazon.com Inc., Lowe's Cos., Home Depot Inc., lighting sales website Super Bright LEDs...
