Law360, New York (September 04, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- German licensing company Papst Licensing GMbH & Co. KG has reached a licensing agreement with Seagate Technology which the company says brings every hard-disk drive manufacturer around the world under its patent umbrella for the same technology.
Papst announced a “substantial licensing agreement” on Tuesday which covers Seagate subsidiary Maxtor Corp.’s hard-disk drives. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Papst’s attorney Jerold Schnayer said Seagate paid “a substantial royalty” for being the last hard-disk drive manufacturer to take a license.
