Law360, New York (June 22, 2012, 7:03 PM ET) -- Two leading intellectual property groups said this week that a proposal for patent applications deemed critical to America's "economic security" to be kept secret in order to prevent foreign competitors from getting an unfair advantage would stifle innovation and undermine the U.S. economy.
In comments filed Tuesday, the Intellectual Property Owners Association said that such a plan, suggested by a U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations subcommittee, "would be difficult to administer [and] potentially unconstitutional, and would not foster domestic industry."
