Judge Revokes Class In Photog's IP Suit Against Pearson

Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 5:24 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge on Friday decertified a class led by photographer Norbert Wu in a copyright infringement suit accusing publisher Pearson Education Inc. of filling its textbooks with photographs it did not properly license.

U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest said that when the class was certified in September 2011, the ruling was based on information that did not fully explain the various layers of the contractual arrangements among all parties involved, which include photo agencies in addition to the copyright owners and Pearson....
