Trial Begins In Dell’s Suit Over Data-Managing Patents

Law360, New York (January 15, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal trial has kicked off in Dell USA LP’s case accusing Alcatel-Lucent’s configuration tool of infringing two of its patents for managing customer and product information online.

The trial got under way on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, according to court dockets.

Judge Richard A. Schell encouraged the companies to attend a mediation conference by Jan. 11, but Dell and Alcatel-Lucent were apparently unable to settle their dispute and attended a final pretrial hearing on Friday, according to...
