Wi-LAN Sues Phone Makers For Patent Infringement

Law360, New York (June 20, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A patent-licensing company sued phone companies Motorola Inc., Research in Motion Corp. and UTSTarCom Inc. on Thursday for allegedly infringing certain patents related to mobile hand-held devices and other equipment.

According to the complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas by Wi-LAN, the companies sell phones that are compliant with the CDMA2000 and wireless 802.11 standards and thus infringe two of the company's patents.
