Guidant Sues St. Jude Over Pacemaker Defibrillators

Law360, New York (February 04, 2004, 12:00 AM ET) -- Two years after a judge overturned Guidant Corp.’s $140 million jury award from rival St. Jude Medical Inc. after a witness lied on the stand, the medical device maker has filed yet another patent infringement lawsuit against its Canadian competitor.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware on Monday, St. Jude said in a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The complaint claims St. Jude pacemaker-defibrillators Atlas HF and Epic HF and pacemaker Frontier CRM infringe Guidant’s intellectual property. All three...
