Software Tree Sues Rivals Over Java Application

Law360, New York (March 04, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Software company Software Tree LLC has sued Red Hat Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., Genuitec LLC and Dell Inc. for allegedly infringing a patent related to a Java-based application server.

In a complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Software Tree accused the four defendants of making and selling products that infringe U.S. Patent Number 6,163,776. Software Tree noted that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office found all claims of the '776 patent valid last April following a re-examination.
