Amazon Tagged In Patent Suit Over Kindle Reader

Law360, New York (March 17, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Amazon.com Inc.'s popular Kindle and Kindle 2 digital readers are the subject of a new patent infringement suit brought by the owner of Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, which accuses Amazon of infringing a patent for an electronic book copyright protection system.

The network owner, Discovery Communications Inc., lodged the suit on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, claiming Amazon's Kindle, Kindle 2 and electronic book delivery systems infringe a patent titled “Electronic book security and copyright protection system."
