Law360, New York (May 16, 2012, 11:01 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday tossed copyright infringement claims by attorneys who had not registered their work and accuse LexisNexis and Westlaw in a putative class action of reposting their work without permission.
In a ruling from the bench, U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff dismissed the claims brought by a subclass of attorneys whose works — which include briefs, motions and other documents filed by attorneys in court — had never been registered, according to Westlaw attorney Benjamin Marks of Weil Gotshal & Manges...
