Law360, New York (April 29, 2011, 9:48 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge on Thursday granted the record industry’s motion for partial summary judgment that Lime Wire LLC directly infringed copyrights of more than 11,000 sound recordings and granted most of its bid on ownership of those recordings.
With a trial on damages set for May 2, U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood sided with Arista Records LLC and several other major record companies’ partial summary judgment motion that the file-sharing service provider directly infringed 9,715 post-1972 sound recordings and 1,490 pre-1972 recordings.
