Law360, New York (March 01, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The European Commission launched an in-depth investigation Thursday into whether Sony Corp. and Bertelsmann AG’s deal to combine their music recording units creates a monopoly position in the industry.
The review is the second time the Commission has to scrutinize the deal it approved in July 2004, after an E.U. court decided last summer that officials should not have given the merger the green light.
