Deals Rumor Mill: Ashley Furniture, At Home Group, Kaufhof

By Linda Chiem (June 2, 2015, 6:25 PM EDT) -- Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. is exploring a sale that could value the furniture maker at more than $3 billion, with a number of big-name private equity firms already circling as potential buyers, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The family-owned company, which is one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the world, is reportedly working with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. on the potential sale process, which still is in the early stages and might not even lead to an actual sale of the company, according to the WSJ report. Established in 1945 and based in Arcadia, Wisconsin, Ashley manufactures sofas and loveseats, bedroom and dining sets and a variety of other home furnishings. Its products are sold through more than 560 Ashley Furniture HomeStores, which are independently owned and operated but have a licensed operating agreement with Ashley, as well as other retailers....
