Law360, New York (June 16, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has adopted a new method for measuring concentrations of certain particles in ambient air as the agency conducts a wide-reaching effort to revise its scientific evaluation processes regarding the measurement of air pollution.
The agency published the changes Monday in the Federal Register regarding the measurement of certain grades of particulate matter, specifically PM10 and PM2.5. The new automated method uses a measurement principle based on sample collection by filtration and analysis through a process called beta-ray attenuation, the EPA said....
