Law360, New York (June 17, 2010, 1:18 PM ET) -- Tony Hayward's apologies gave way to what one lawmaker called “stonewalling” as the BP PLC boss faced members of the U.S. House of Representatives to defend his company against accusations that BP shortcuts caused the Deepwater Horizon rig disaster.
Hayward, who began his testimony saying he was "deeply sorry" for the disaster, ducked many questions from the almost uniformly hostile congressmen at a day-long Thursday hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's subcommittee on oversight and investigations.
