San Diego Diocese Waves $95M White Flag

Law360, New York (March 30, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego has proposed a $95 million settlement to lay to rest more than 140 claims of sexual abuse by priests, stirring the ire of attorneys representing the alleged victims.

The diocese said in its disclosure statement, filed Wednesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California, that it would offer 143 individuals between $10,000 and $800,000 each, depending on the degree of abuse and other factors.
