Law360, New York (November 14, 2011, 8:26 PM ET) -- More than 17 years after the landmark “hot coffee” lawsuit, McDonald's USA LLC was hit with a product liability action filed in Illinois state court on Monday by a woman who claims the fast-food chain's coffee scalded her toddler.
In November 2009, then-2-year-old Blake Ryden sustained “severe, permanent, debilitating and disfiguring burns and injuries, including scarring” after a cup of McDonald's coffee spilled on him, according to a complaint filed by his mother, Holly Ryden.
