Firms Avoid Disqualification In RealNetworks Case

Law360, New York (July 05, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A district judge has denied dueling attempts by Friskit Inc. and RealNetworks Inc. chairman to disqualify each others' counsel in a patent infringement case over streaming media technology.

Senior U.S. District Judge William W. Schwarzer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Thursday that a Howrey LLP attorney may continue to represent RealNetworks in its defense against Friskit, which can continue to be represented by attorneys from Foley & Lardner LLP.
