Ind. Workers' $18M Award Slashed In Wage-And-Hour Case

Law360, New York (February 17, 2012, 9:05 PM ET) -- The Indiana Supreme Court on Thursday said that the $18 million back pay recovery of nonmerit employees in a long-running class action over hourly wages with the state should be cut because of their “unreasonable” delay in seeking recovery.

The almost 19-yearlong dispute involved claims by merit and nonmerit employees of Indiana state who said that they had worked 40-hour weeks for the same pay as state employees in similar positions who worked only 37 1/2-hour weeks, according to the court, which noted the nonmerit employees...
