Cheese Distributors Deny Charges Over Contaminated Product

Law360, Chicago (May 03, 2012, 1:41 PM ET) -- Two onetime employees of a cheese distribution company denied charges Thursday in Illinois that they had conspired to distribute more than 110,000 pounds of imported Mexican cheese, samples of which turned out to be contaminated, against U.S. Food and Drug Administration orders.

Cynthia Gutierrez, 37, and Miguel Leal, 47, both pled not guilty to conspiracy, food adulteration and obstruction charges for allegedly conspiring to illegally distribute the cheese, to scrape mold and fungus off of cheese returned by unsatisfied customers so it could be resold, and...
