Law360, New York (May 23, 2012, 8:30 PM ET) -- The National Football League Players Association on Wednesday hit the league with a $3 billion suit claiming the owners conspired to set secret salary caps in the 2010 season, when team payrolls were supposed to be uncapped.
The players said the owners had violated the 1993 settlement that governs NFL labor relations, colluding amongst themselves to limit team salaries to $123 million per club in a year that, because of the looming expiration of the league's collective bargaining agreement, was to have been unrestricted.
