Oracle Slams Lodsys For Threatening Software Clients Over IP

Law360, New York (June 04, 2012, 6:26 PM ET) -- Oracle America Inc. launched a preemptive lawsuit against patent-licensing company Lodsys LLC on Thursday in Wisconsin federal court, seeking a declaratory judgment that the computing giant's online sales services didn't infringe the litigious Lodsys' oft-asserted data sharing patents.

Oracle claims Lodsys had sent threatening letters to many of the companies for which Oracle provides online customer support services such as Live Help Chat On-Demand, demanding that they license technology that they had already purchased from Oracle.
