Kevin Durant, Nike Sued By Guitarist Over 'Durantula' Mark

Law360, New York (June 21, 2012, 2:13 PM ET) -- A Chicago guitarist who goes by the name Durantula sued National Basketball Association star Kevin Durant and Nike Inc. in Illinois federal court Wednesday, accusing the three-time scoring champion of stealing his trademarked stage name.

Mark Durante says he's used the name Durantula for 19 years, first as a performance nickname in bands like the Revolting Cocks and later as his actual recording persona, and that he registered it with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2010.
