Ill. Workers' Pay Freeze Fight Heads Back To Arbitration

Law360, New York (July 03, 2012, 4:24 PM ET) -- An Illinois judge on Monday sent a dispute between Gov. Pat Quinn and union workers over wage increases back to arbitration, saying more fact-finding needed to be conducted in relation to state funding for the raises.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Richard Billik declined Council 31 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’s motion to affirm arbitrator Edwin Benn’s decision last fall that ordered the administration to pay wage hikes for nearly 30,000 state employees.
