Law360, New York (July 10, 2012, 4:22 PM ET) -- Enbridge Inc. knew about cracks in a Michigan pipeline in 2010 and was slow to respond, federal regulators said Tuesday, reporting the results of a two-year investigation into the nation’s biggest and most expensive onshore oil spill.
The National Transportation Safety Board delivered its findings of the July 25, 2010, oil spill that dumped nearly 850,000 gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River. Cleanup costs are nearing $770 million, according to the NTSB, and the river just recently reopened for recreational use.
