Ford Steers Out Of $27M Design Defect Suit In 8th Circ.

Law360, New York (July 10, 2012, 10:25 PM ET) -- The Eighth Circuit on Tuesday affirmed a jury verdict in favor of Ford Motor Co. in a $27 million lawsuit brought by accident victim Kayla Nemmers, who blamed the design of Ford's heavy-duty pickup truck for her paralysis.

The appeals court upheld the jury verdict, which found Ford was not at fault in a February 2007 drunken driving accident involving a 2002 model year F-250 pickup truck that ran off a rural road in Jackson County, Iowa, smashed into a tree and landed upside down. The...
