Northern States Power Will Pay $40M For Superfund Cleanup

Law360, New York (August 09, 2012, 12:34 PM ET) -- Northern States Power Co. on Wednesday agreed to pay $40 million in a consent decree reached with the federal government and the state of Wisconsin over cleanup costs at the Ashland Lakefront Superfund site on Lake Superior.

Under the agreement, filed in the Western District of Wisconsin, Northern States will design, construct and implement the cleanup plan for the on-land portion of the site, which could begin this year.
