Law360, New York (June 27, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has routinely ignored the advice of its field inspectors and has sent half as many warning letters to companies that have violated the law since 2000, Democratic lawmakers charge in a new report.
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) claims the report proves that “under the Bush administration, enforcement efforts have plummeted and serious warnings have been ignored.”
The “FDA can’t do its job when its enforcement arm is tied behind its back,” he said.
