Law360, New York (December 09, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has agreed to pay $54.25 million to settle a wage-and-hour class action with tens of thousands of Minnesota-based workers on the eve of a jury trial set to determine punitive damages and civil penalties.
The settlement, which includes a “substantial payment” to the state of Minnesota, was announced Tuesday in a joint statement by the department store giant and the co-lead counsel for the class, Justin Perl of plaintiffs firm Maslon Edelman Borman & Brand LLP.
