Aereo Bid To Avoid Injunction Gets Poor Reception

Law360, New York (October 24, 2014, 5:06 PM EDT) -- Despite raising several new arguments in its attempt to avoid an injunction, Aereo Inc. nevertheless was enjoined on Thursday from continuing certain retransmission of broadcast television programming to its subscribers. In the latest round of the lengthy battle between Aereo and the broadcast company plaintiffs, U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan granted preliminary injunctive relief, prohibiting Aereo from retransmitting programs to its subscribers while the programs are still being broadcast. However, the plaintiffs' request to broaden the injunction from what they originally requested to also cover any Aereo retransmission, regardless of when such retransmissions occur was denied....
