Law360, New York (September 22, 2010, 5:11 PM ET) -- Abbott Laboratories Inc. has launched a voluntary recall of $100 million worth of its Similac-brand powder infant formulas in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and some Caribbean countries over concerns about potential beetle contamination.
The health care company announced the “proactive” recall in a news
release on Wednesday “following an internal quality review, which detected the remote possibility of the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in one production area in a single manufacturing facility.”
