Law360, New York (May 04, 2012, 3:19 PM ET) -- Shell Gulf of Mexico Inc. asked an Alaska federal court Wednesday to uphold approvals by the National Marine Fisheries Service for offshore drilling in the Arctic, hoping to avoid last-minute legal challenges before kicking off oil and gas exploration in July.
Shell Gulf of Mexico and Shell Offshore Inc. brought the suit against a slew of environmental groups they expect to legally challenge authorizations by the NMFS to incidentally harm marine mammals through drilling operations in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas.
