Citibank, Others Can't Dodge Reinsurance Kickback Suits

Law360, New York (February 05, 2014, 4:06 PM ET) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge gave the green light Wednesday to two proposed class actions alleging Citibank NA and Fifth Third Bank schemed with private mortgage insurers to push fraudulent reinsurance on home mortgages, finding the claims were not time-barred.

The decision came after U.S. District Judge Mark R. Hornak dismissed both suits in July for failing to prove they were timely under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act. The plaintiffs in both suits then filed amended complaints that restated some of their arguments, and this time...
