Minn. Bridge Victims Sue Engineers, Contractor

Law360, New York (June 19, 2009) -- An engineering firm and a contractor whose alleged negligence contributed to the deadly collapse of the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis have been hit with dozens of lawsuits in Minnesota state court, in what defendants say is a legal maneuver to get at the otherwise untouchable bridge designer.

Motorists and family members of motorists caught in the collapse, which killed 13 and injured 145, filed 79 separate lawsuits against URS Corp. and Progressive Contracting Inc. in state court...
