Southern Union Hit With $18M Fine In RI Mercury Case

Law360, New York (October 05, 2009) -- A federal judge has ordered Southern Union Co. to pay a total of $18 million for illegally storing liquid mercury at a facility in Rhode Island, which allegedly led to a hazardous spill at a nearby apartment complex, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.
