ABA Asks DOJ To Read Into 'Book Pricing Wars'

Law360, New York (October 23, 2009) -- The American Booksellers Association has urged the U.S. Department of Justice to look into whether retail giants Amazon.com, Wal-Mart Corp. and Target Corp. are engaging in illegal predatory pricing practices in an attempt to win control of the market for hardcover best-sellers.

The trade organization, which represents the nation's locally owned, independent booksellers, said in a letter to the DOJ Thursday that the alleged pricing wars are damaging to the book industry...
