Czech Regulator Tacks $45M Onto Cartel’s Tab

Law360, New York (February 12, 2007) -- Weeks after the European Commission handed down its largest penalty ever in a cartel case, the Czech antitrust regulator has hit the same group of companies with a $44.8 million fine for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy to fix the prices of gas-insulated switch gear equipment.

On Monday, UOHS hit 16 multinational firms in Europe and Asia, including Alstom SA, Mitsubishi Electric Corp. and Siemens AG, with a 979 million koruna fine for their purported involvement...
