Big Dig Contractor To Pay $21M In Tunnel Collapse

Law360, New York (November 14, 2008) -- One of the largest contractors in Boston's Big Dig highway construction project has agreed to pay $21 million in damages to the commonwealth of Massachusetts to resolve claims related to a fatal tunnel ceiling collapse in 2006, as well as the costs of repairing leaks and other construction problems.

In addition to paying $21 million, Modern Continental Construction Inc. agreed to stop working on the tunnel project and to extend roughly $2 billion in performance bonds on its contracts...
