House Republicans Eye Top SEC Atty's Madoff Ties

Law360, New York (February 25, 2011, 6:31 PM ET) -- U.S. House Republicans pressured the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday to reveal details about its general counsel's ties to Bernard L. Madoff, on the heels of a suit claiming his mother's estate reaped over $1.5 million in bogus profits from Madoff's Ponzi scheme.

The clawback suit against SEC General Counsel David Becker raised questions that demanded prompt answers from the agency, according to a letter that Republican leaders from the House Financial Services Committee sent to SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro.
