Law360, New York (December 01, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- EchoStar Communications Corp.’s statement that it would provide domestic satellite capacity to another company has infuriated television broadcasters who accused EchoStar of dodging a federal court order that prohibits it from offering local broadcast stations out of market.
The National Association of Broadcasters sent a cease and desist letter to Echostar, and then filed a motion to stop the company’s efforts in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The group says Echostar is in “flagrant contempt of the permanent injunction.”
