Chinese Drywall Co. Taishan Ordered To Pay $2.6M

Law360, New York (April 08, 2010, 2:12 PM ET) -- A federal judge has ordered Chinese drywall manufacturer Taishan Gypsum Co. Ltd. to fork over $2.6 million to seven families who are part of the massive multidistrict litigation over the allegedly defective drywall.

On Thursday, Judge Eldon E. Fallon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said Taishan must issue the payout in order to cover the cost of removing all the drywall, Chinese-made and otherwise, in the families' homes, as well as any items damaged by corrosion.
