Plains To Spend $41M On Oil Pipeline Spill Prevention

Law360, New York (August 10, 2010, 4:24 PM ET) -- Plains All American Pipeline LP has agreed to shell out about $41 million in upgrades for more than 10,000 miles of crude oil pipeline in the U.S., settling allegations that 10 oil spills violated the Clean Water Act.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Justice said Tuesday they had reached a settlement with the Houston-based company, which also consented to pay a $3.25 million civil fine for the spills, which occurred in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Kansas and were mainly caused by pipeline...
