Law360, New York (May 01, 2012, 7:10 PM ET) -- The Fifth Circuit on Tuesday allowed Texas to boot Planned Parenthood chapters from a state health care program because they affiliate with abortion providers, blocking a lower court’s ruling from just hours earlier.
Lone Star State officials promptly cut Planned Parenthood’s access to funding in their Women’s Health Program, which provides preventive care to 100,000 low-income patients annually.
“Planned Parenthood is no longer an eligible provider in the program,” said Stephanie Goodman, spokeswoman for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
