NC AG Says New Protections Needed Before Fracking Allowed

Law360, New York (May 03, 2012, 7:33 PM ET) -- More legal protections for landowners leasing oil and gas rights must be put in place before hydraulic fracturing is allowed in North Carolina, according to a report released by the state attorney general’s office Wednesday.

The report, authored by the Consumer Protection Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice, is one of several studies conducted by the state as its legislature considers overturning a ban on hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.
